Jordan Langridge wins OFSAA Silver!
When Jordan Langridge decided to return to school for a 5th year, he was partially motivated by the chance to improve on his 7th place finish in the OFSAA final for the 800 metres. He knew he wasn't quite ready to go to university so he took courses to enable him to be better qualified for post-secondary education AND to dedicate himself to training so he could better his fine performance last year.
That effort has paid off handsomely with a terrific silver medal winning performance at the 2009 OFSAA track and field championships, held at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Langridge ran a very smart race, getting himself into position off the turn with 100m to go so he could challenge for the lead. He was a strong second to the winner, Anthony Romaniw of St Thomas More.
Langridge's performance was not the only top 8 for the Blue Dragons as Rachel Windsor wound up her career with a personal best and school record performance in the Open girls steeplechase. She ran 5:11.30 to wrap up a stellar career as a Blue Dragon. David Quinn, another of the trio of Seniors who have been to a combined 11 OFSAA meets in track and field and 13 in cross country, was 8th in the Senior Boys 1500 metres, running an excellent race in a personal best time of 4:00.20 seconds. In the 3000 metres , Quinn ran a solid 8:55.48 for a 14th place finish while his teammate Julian Rhebergen achieved a personal best in a time of 8:55.85 to finish 15th.
Midget Hurdler Rueben Meens gained some valuable experience in his first OFSAA experience, finishing 15th in the 100 metre hurdles and the 300 metre hurdles. Wei Wei Yan ran a personal best in a time of 42.94 to finish 13th in the Junior Boys 300 metre hurdles. Jake Maynard was 15th in the Junior Boys 100 metre hurdles in a time of 15.51. Finally, the Midget Boys 4 x 100 metre relay team ( Meens, Kyle Tilley, Josh Field and Darrin Morgan )were a credible 20th in their first OFSAA competition.
