The Colborne Legion will no longer have to go to Cramahe Council, cap in hand, to request tax relief.
Cramahe Council unanimously passed a resolution on October 6 which will give the service organization a 10-year reprieve. Township treasurer, Mora Chatterson told council that the legion had gotten the break since 2004, but Councillor Pat Westrope disagreed, stating Colborne Council had done the same prior to amalgamation.
The County of Northumberland passed a similar resolution in 2007, granting relief from county taxes. The legion continues to pay education taxes.
