Earlier this year Cramahe Council gave Dana Johnston a December 31 deadline to move forward on the subdivision he owns east of Victoria Street in Colborne.
Mr. Johnston was at council on December 1 with some of the planning work done and in need of an extension past the deadline.
The property which sits between Victoria and Elgin Streets requires rezoning so that two condos can be built. The plan being put forward proposes a five-unit and a four-unit building. Because they will be condos and not townhouses, there are rezoning ramifications, says township CAO, Christie Alexander.
Mayor Marc Coombs had no problem with the delay as long as the project is moving forward.
Mr. Johnston must meet with Ms. Alexander and township planner, Peter Josephs prior to sending the proposal to the Pine Ridge Municipal Planning Association (PRMPA)for an opinion. PRMPA is employed by the township to consider planning applications.

We also live on Elgin St and this proposal would be right behind our home.
ReplyDeleteWe understood it was to be townhomes aimed at seniors but it appears it is now going to be condo apartments. We are concerned and frankly opposed to this development. Any zoning change approved to permit condo apartments would mean approval for high density development and would apply to this ENTIRE sub-division and not merely to the portion that is the subject of this current proposal.
Dana needs to provide early clarification of his plans.
