Legion events for August

The Colborne Legion submitted this summary of special events for the month of August:

Colborne turns 150 years young this year. The Colborne Legion will be holding a Bar B Q Dinner on Friday, July 31 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. For $5.00 you get a choice of a home made hamburger, a sausage on a bun or a “Colborne” hotdog, a choice of either potato salad or coleslaw, a soft drink or tea and coffee. Everyone is welcome.

The Colborne Legion will be having bar-b-q on Saturday, August 1st , from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. For $10.00 you get a full BBQ dinner including your choice of a home made hamburger, sausage on a bun or a “Colborne” hot dog and of course our usual fried onions. Also included will be potato salad, cole slaw, brown beans, apple cheddar salad, marinated carrots, jelly salad and a vegetable tray, plus a lusciously lemon dessert, tea and coffee. For $5.00 you can have a choice of a home made hamburger, sausage on a bun, or a “Colborne” hot dog and your choice of either potato salad or cole slaw. For $1.00 more, you can enjoy a piece of our lusciously lemon dessert.

On Friday, August 7, The Colborne Legion will be having our monthly roast beef dinner from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Along with our usual roast beef we will have “new” boiled potatoes, scalloped carrots, peas and marinated mushrooms. We will have a tossed green salad with salad bar fixings and breads, tea and coffee. Our Dessert will be cheesecake with a variety of toppings. All this for our usual $10.00 per person.

On Saturday, August 8 the whole town of Colborne celebrates Trash and Treasures weekend. The Colborne Legion will be having their usual GIANT inside yard sale with lots and lots of bargains. Donations of gently used items would be very much appreciated. Outside, the BBQ will be fired up offering home made hamburgers, “Colborne” hot dogs, sausages and of course – fried onions. Doors will be open “bright and early”.

On Friday, August 21, The Colborne Legion will be having a “fish fry” from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. They will be serving freshly battered, deep fried Pollock, oven fried potatoes, fresh corn on the cob, Caesar salad with trays of tomatoes with zesty dressing. Dessert will be a variety of pudding squares including luscious lemon, decadent chocolate and passionate pistachio. All this for $10.00 per person.
