The Auction Barn Jamboree was a financial success for Cramahe Township
The event report submitted to Cramahe Council by Community Services Director, Dan O’Brien, indicated the township banked $4,803 for the six-day country music festival held just before Labour Day. Jamboree promoters, Gary Warner and Linda Grills donated 200 chairs worth another $2,600. The end result was a $7,403 profit.
Expenses for the township amounted to $13,158, and included staffing costs of almost $5,000. Mr. O'Brien says that $2,394 of the staffing costs were regular costs which would have been incurred whether there had been an event or not. He wanted Council and the community to see that some of the time spent by his staff is revenue generating. It's a community investment by the taxpayers.
Other expenses included bar inventory of $3,696, cleaning supplies of $1,048 and canteen inventory of $2,107.
The bulk of the township revenue came from bar sales valued at $9,342. The canteen brought in $5,541, and the Keeler Centre rental was $2,950.
Councillor Pat Westrope wondered how these numbers compared with last year. Mayor Marc Coombs thought the township had done a little better this year.
