The renovations in the lower level of the Castleton Town Hall are moving along nicely. Cramahe Township Chief Building Official, Natalie Moroz-Cornell explained the changes in a September 1 tour of the building.
The renovations which are budgetted at $40,000 include replacement of some of the drywall, covering the floors with carpet tile, and repairs and changes to the stairs.
Ms. Moroz-Cornell says the project will be $5,000 over budget due to unexpected work which needed to be done to raies the floor level in the northeast corner of the building.
One of the support beams in the lower level still bears the charring from the fire in 1972 that threatened the designated building.
