Cramahe gets new fire chief

Cramahe Council voted on December 1 to relieve its current fire chief, Gary Cammack of some of his duties, and appointed staffer Jim Harris as interim fire chief.

In a phone interview on December 2, the interim chief explained that Mr. Cammack had new responsibilities in his work which made it difficult to complete the required administrative duties as chief.

Council made the decision after meeting in camera. On December 2, township Chief Administrative Officer, Christie Alexander, released the December 1 motion which ratified the result of the in camera discussion. It stated, "That Council endorses the appointment of Jim Harris as Interim Fire Chief and the appointment of Gary Cammack as Deputy Fire Chief effective immediately."

Mr. Harris will remain in the position for six months, or until all the administrative requirements are in place. Cramahe will advertise for a new chief at that time.

In the revised organization Deputy Chief Cammack will continue his leadership responsibilities in emergnecy call situations. Interim Chief Harris will not attend emergency calls. He will oversee all the administrative tasks required of the chief.
