Cramahe Township will get one communications tower as Barrett Xplore begins to put in place county-wide high-speed internet service. The tower, located on Neil McGregor Rd. is barely in the township, sitting just outside of Alnwick-Haldimand Township north of the 401.
Barrett informed the township on May 25 of its intentions under requirements laid down by Industry Canada. In its letter the company advised the township that there are no existing towers which it could share.
The self-supporting 100-foot tower will be located at 191 Neil McGregor Rd. Anti-climb shields will be installed on the tower. No permits are required before construction begins.
Barrett Xplore was chosen by Northumberland County to provice county-wide high-speed internet under the Northumberland Broadband Initiative.
