High School Reunion update

In the government’s plan to close smaller schools and centralize activities into larger facilities, Colborne High School was possibly one of the first to close its doors at the end of the 1962 term. While one can debate the pros and cons of the move, there exists a strong pride amongst former CHS students in their achievements in a small school. This coming August 1st, 2009, former students will once again demonstrate their pride as they gather to relive the memories of those good old High School days.

The grade 12 graduating class of 1952/53, shown in this photograph is just one of hundreds of class and school pictures that will be on display in the former High School on the August 1st afternoon.

The August 1st Reunion activities are split into two separate functions at different locations. In the afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. you will be able to journey down Memory Lane with some of your former classmates while viewing photos and memorabilia of earlier times. In the evening, starting with Happy Hour at 5:30 p.m., activities move to the Rotary Room of the Keeler Centre. At 6:30 p.m., Black Dress Catering (Donna Rusaw) will feature one of her famous 3 course hot buffet dinners, providing a choice of roast beef , roast chicken or ham, a choice of salads and a selection of desserts followed by tea or coffee.

Dinner will be followed by a few brief announcements, and then Cramahe’s own Stoney and the Sundance Band will entertain you with some golden oldies from the 50/60’s era. There will be lots of time to mingle and reminisce with old friends and acquaintances.

The total cost for a whole day’s activity is only $35.00, but, you must be Registered to attend the Banquet. The banquet hall will accommodate only 200 dinner guests, so regrettably, when that number is reached, further registrations cannot be accepted. The CHS Reunion Committee has already approved 130 Registrations.

For more information on Registration, see the Township of Cramahe website http://www.visitcramahe.ca/ and link to CHS Reunion.
