Doris Kathleen Downey and William Burton "Bert" Downey

Doris at the Belmont Long Term Care Facility, Belleville on Sunday, April 5, aged 95 years.

Bert Downey died suddenly at his home , a result of a massive heart failure on Tuesday April 7, 2009 at age 89 years.

Parents of Robert and his wife Judith Codd of Toronto, and Janet and her husband Michel Guerard of Victoria, British Columbia.

The Downeys were well known in Colborne.

Bert served on the village Council,Church Boards at Colborne United Church .

In 1971 Bert purchased the pharmacy from Wm. Griffis. He renamed the store "Downey Pharmacy". In 1978 Bert sold his business to the current owner, Steve Bowskill.
