Students learn about gardening

Last week the Cramahe Horticultural Society visited three schools, hoping to raise interest in gardening activities in pupils of various grades.
Students at Castleton P.S., South Cramahe P.S. and Colborne P.S. received gifts of lilac, cedars, silky dogwood and gray dogwood. Each specimen had an envelope attached to it containing detailed instructions as to care, and students were warned that the plants should be kept well watered and planted within two days.
At the end of the summer they were asked to have a photo taken of themselves with their specimen, with a prize offered for the best entry.
The society feels that horticulture is an important part of our existence and hope that it can attract new members in due course.
Students above are at Castleton Public School.
