ENSS is tops at BQ Invitational

East Northumberland Blue Dragons captured the 2009 BQ Invitational Cross Country title by posting 33 team points, narrowly edging Cobourg West , who had 31 points. Regiopolis-Notre Dame of Kingston was third with 26 points. This is the 4th straight year the Blue Dragons have won the title, and the 8th time this decade!

In Midget Girls, Trenton High School's Rachel Faulds continued her winning ways, capturing the race in a near-record time. Olivia Patton was 6th for ENSS. The top Bay of Quinte Schools were Bayside, Centennial and ENSS in 4th, 5th and 6th.

Junior Girls saw ES Marc Garneau's Alexandra Rainville capture the title. Oliva Dyer of ENSS continued her strong season with a 4th place finish. Bayside won the team title on a tiebreaker with Regiopolis- ND . (ties are broken by the 4th place runner). ENSS was 5th.

In Sr Girls, Cobourg West's Domi Jamnicky won the race only 2 days after running at Pre-OFSAA (where she was 11th) . Amanda Lowthian of Centennial was 3rd and Emma Lafontaine was 4th. Lafontaine led her Blue Dragon team to a first-place finish. Lindsey Roth was 7th, Laura Howard was 10th and Erin Salmon was 16th for the Dragons.

Adam Doxtator won the Midget boys' race and set a course record in the process. ENSS's Midget boys team continued their strong season, winning the team title, narrowly edging Cobourg West. ENSS had a 7th place finish from Brennan Thompson, 9th for Riley Dagg, 10th for Taylor Hoyle and 16th for Kiefer Davies to lead the Blue Dragons.

In Junior boys, Nick Holden of Quinte was the individual champion. IE Weldon won the team title with ENSS placing 3rd.

The senior boys division saw James Denny of St Theresa's win the title, with Kaelan Parker of Centennial 2nd. Joe Lemmermeyer had the best placing for ENSS , as he was 6th. Centennial won the team title. ENSS was 4th, giving them enough team points to narrowly win the overall title!

Next race is Wednesday, October 21st, back at Goodrich-Loomis for the 2009 Bay of Quinte Championships.

Meet start time is 11:30 and spectators are welcome.
